Why Timing is Ripe for Network Marketing

It is happening all around us.  Foreclosure crisis.  Banking system is in disarray, construction and new housing development is crumbling.   The stock market tumbles daily, your investments are shrinking, the price of gas is skyrocketing, food is astronomical.  Face it.  We are in a recession.  And it is isn't going away any time soon.

So how do you keep your head above water during these times?  Well, let me let you in on a little secret about our industry. 

When every other industry is crashing around us, our industry is the one business that does fine.  And when the economy is bad, this business does amazing.  What is it?

Network Marketing

Yes, Network Marketing.  The timing has never been better.  Because during times of recession, people are looking for alternative ways to make money.  Traditional business are far too costly and take years to even begin to see a profit.  Network Marketing takes time, but the leveraging ability of this industry is unlike any other.

It has been predicted that Network Marketing will produce more millionaires in the next 10 years than other industry.  People are flocking to it in hoardes.   Why?  Because it works. 

I am not talking about the pyramid schemes (see my article on Choosing the Right Network Marketing Company on the sidebar in this blog) money scams or get rich quick ventures.  No, I am talking about legitimate Network Marketing which is practiced in over 125 countries around the world, producing $100 BILLION a year in sales. 

This industry has helped millions of home-based entrepreneurs just like yourself to live their dreams.

You see, Network Marketing does well in any economy.  History has shown us that this business thrives above all others regardless of the economic conditions. 

Why?  Well, for one, you leverage the talents of others within your organization.  If you aren't good at selling, find someone who is.  If you arent' good at speaking, find someone who is.  If you aren't good on the phone, find someone who is.  Get the picture?  Your success depends on how well others in your organization do.  You aren't a show horse; you are a pack horse.

Today, Network Marketing is not only an accepted business model around the world, it is the model of choice for tens of thousands of people.  It is a vibrant,  growing profession and it is attracting some of the best and brightest minds around the world. 

Network Marketing used to be for people who had no alternative.  How many stories have you heard about the broke, down and out fellow who spent his last dime to start the business and is now a millionaire?  Those stories are true and that is what makes Network Marketing so unique when compared to all of the other options out there.   But it is evolving from a small time Network to a Globally Charged Profession.  People from all walks of life are involved in this industry and it doesn't show any signs of slowing down.  From Corporate Executives to Work from Home Moms, the industry is exploding.

With the advent of the internet and attraction marketing, you can reach thousands of people across the globe with the touch of a button.  You can network on-line or face-to-face.  However you choose.  The options out there today are limitless.

But timing is everything.  Learn now how to recession proof your income.

There is no way to tell how long this wave will last but it looks to be with us for quite some time.

Networking as a Tool for Building a Warm Market

Networking is not always about what you can get but rather what can you give.  Relationships in Network Marketing are crucial.  In order to build these relationships, you need to take the time necessary to foster a sense of trust and respect.  It doesn't happen overnight. 

How can you do this?  Well, you can do it the old way and attend Networking Seminars, volunteering, having home parties;, all ways that take time and don't always produce the desired results.  Or, you can use the same principles of Networking and apply them to the new Web 2.0 Social Networking model. 

Let's do a comparison of old networking vs. the new model.

Networking Seminars -

Old School Networking -  you would attend the seminar, introduce yourself to people, get to know them and spend the evening exchanging pleasantries and gathering business cards.  The goal in your initial meeting is to make  connections, not necessarily sales.  That comes later.  Relationships take a while to cultivate so you would gather all the business cards possible, even if you didn't think they would be a future prorpsect because you never know when they may be in a position to need or want what you have to offer.

Social Networking - no need to attend the seminars.  Utilization of social networking methods like you-tube, ezine articles, facebook, myspace, blogging...all ways to network and target your audience at the same time on-line.  You can  create life-long relationships and build a prospect list all without ever leaving the comfort of your home.  Imagine that?  And since the prospects are all targeted to your niche market, chances are pretty good they will want what you have to offer.  Utilizing these methods, you get permission from the prospect before ever contacting them.   

Following up 

Old School Networking - Networking doesn't end after the initial event or meeting.  Now is when you start to network using the information you gathered at the event.  Take your business cards and build a list.  Use this list to send thank you notes or little tidbits of information that you think the prospect might find interesting.  Start building a relationship through the mail.   If you had someone who showed an interest, you might even call them (after you have sent a thank you note or information to them) and try and set up a meeting.  Follow-up is crucial but it must be done timely so as not to seem to over-aggressive.   

Social Networking - No need to call or send thank you's because you will be keeping in constant contact with your prospect through your auto e-mail campaign.   Each e-mail will contain value based information that is targeted to your niche market.  Information that your prospect needs and wants.  Building a relationship once again without ever leaving your home.  Essentially building that warm market on-line rather than off-line.   

Whether you choose to network utilizing social networking or belly-to-belly, you need to follow protocol.  Develop a relationship first.  Genuinely listen to what your audience's wants and needs are - know your target market.

Relationships do not happen overnight.  Like a fine wine, they take time to cultivate but the end result is usually worth waiting for when done prooperly.
